Dora Henley Smith became a citizen of heaven on March 27th, 2024. She was surrounded by her
loving family as she transitioned to her glorious heavenly body.
Dora is survived by her loving husband Carl C. Smith II, daughters Victoria and April, mother
Helen M. Hall Jordon, brother David L. Carr, sister Jurdean Neal, and her sister cousin Eula
Bell.
Dora had many talents, skills and gifts. She had the gift of encouragement and inspiration.
If you were going through a rough patch in life, Dora would remind you that God is and will
always be faithful. her motto was "Don't give up on God."
Dora obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and later secured employment with Job Corp.
Her primary duties were to help women complete their high school education and to assist them
with obtaining employment. During this, she met someone that invited her to the First
Deliverance church. Dora visited First Deliverance and determined that she wanted to be
baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. And that is what she did. She dedicated her life to Christ
and got busy serving God in obedience.
Dora was a willing worker and active in many areas of the church. Her voice was the voice that
you heard every Sunday evening telling you that God is omnipresent, omnipotent and
omniscient.
She went on to become a licensed minister and was later Ordained at Judah Christian
Assembly. She was better known as Pastor Smith or Pastor Dora. She dedicated her gifts,
talents and skills to the ministry. She created the Informational Ministers Team to ensure that
everyone was informed about the church schedule. Pastor Dora and her husband Pastor Carl
dedicated their time in may areas while at Judah.
Currently Carl and Dora are members of Mount Bethel Baptist Church and hit the ground
running as soon as the entered the church doors.
Dora ventured out and started her own ministry, Henley Smith Foundation Ministries. Her vision
for the ministry was to minister to women through teaching while meeting their spiritual and
emotional needs, and to build meaningful relationships. Henle Smith Ministries was a place to
help women build a deeper relationship with God. It was also a place to dive into the scriptures,
engage in prayer, and nurture prayer walks.
Dora had other outside activities that she enjoyed. She was part of the Kairos Prison Ministry,
Bible Study Fellowship and she was also ordained through ICCM as Reverend Dora Henley
Smith.
There is not enough time to speak of her accomplishments but we know that there are many
here that can speak of the light, encouragement, and inspiration that she shared with everyone
she met.
The most important ministry that Dora had was her husband, Carl C. Smith II and her daughters,
Victoria and April. She left with them her legacy of love, inspiration and encouragement.
