Larry Clyde Jenkins, Sr Obituary

Larry Clyde Jenkins Sr. or "Koolman" and of course "The Black Mayor" was born


June 21, 1951, in Watonga, Oklahoma to L.C. Jenkins and Geraldine (Burton) Jenkins.


He passed away on October 4, 2022, at the age of 71, after a courageous battle with


cancer.


Koolman spent most of his life in Watonga, Oklahoma. He was a lifetime member of The


Church of God in Christ (Holiness Church). Larry was the father of Jacques Delray Nelson,


with Saretta Yvonne Nelson in March of 1970. He married Glenda Williams in 1972, they


raised three sons; Kevin Swanegan, Derrick La'Vel Jenkins, Larry Clyde Jr. (CJ). His only


daughter with Velita Wilson, Lashajuan Sharie Jenkins.


He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father L.C. Jenkins and his brother 


Michael Barcindebar.


Larry was an athlete throughout his school career and was a member of the high school 


varsity basketball team as a freshman. He was a member of the class of 1969.


Larry began his career at Sequoyah Spinning Mill, and then journeyed to become a 


truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service. He would venture to  work for Wheeler Brothers 


Grain Elevator, Eley Tire Shop, and many more jobs. He fell in love with detailing cars at


Ford Motor Company before moving to a landscaping career for Blaine County Court. He


also worked for the Election Board of Blaine County. He ended his career as the custodial


supervisor for Watonga High School.


Larry enjoyed life to the fullest and  being his family and friends. He never met a stranger


and was the life of every party. He had a designated spot at the Eastside Legion Park, where


he often played dominoes, cards, and his favorite music. He enjoyed watching the Kansas City


Chiefs, and NBA basketball or football on T.V. His most favorite time was watching his kids play


sports.


His memory will be cherished by, his mother Geraldine Jenkins (Watonga, Oklahoma), his


sister Linda (Jenkins) Colbert (Watonga, OK), his brother JImmy Jenkins Sr. (Tami) Lumberton,


MS, his sister Carol C.J. (Jenkins) Johnson (Atlanta) GA, his brother Nolan Willis (Geary, OK),


his sister Ladina Tina Willis (Watonga, OK) his brother Reggie Barcindebar (Rita) (Seminole, OK);


his sons: Jacques Richardson (Austin, TX), Derrick Jenkins (OKC, OK), Larry "CJ" Jenkins Jr.


(Yukon, OK); daughter, Lashjuan Jenkins (Watonga, OK); (16) Grandkids, and (4) Great Grandkids,


and host nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
