In Loving Memory

Tommy Lee Carter was called Home on June 11, 2026,
in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born August 27,
1951, in Clinton, Oklahoma, the son of Tommy Joe Carter
and Betty Jean (Parker, Carter) Paxton.
Tommy graduated from Geary,
High School, Class of 1969.
Following his graduation, Tommy
received a wrestling scholarship
from Northern Oklahoma College,
where in 1971, he won the National
Junior College Athletic Association
Championship for his weight class.
Following his graduation from
NOC, he continued his wrestling
career at Central Oklahoma State
College where he won a National
Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National
Championship. After graduating from college, Tom moved
to Houston, Texas, where he enjoyed a successful career
with Kerr McGee as an Accounting Manager. He returned
to Geary in 2012 where he remained until his death.
In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death
by his stepfather, Mitchel Paxton, and his grandson, Cory
Johnson. He is survived by his daughters, Angela Stephens
(Ed) of Virginia and Shelia Johnson-Post (Phillip) of Del
City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren: Erick Stephens,
Brandon Johnson, Chelsea Johnson, and Phillip Johnson;
and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his
aunt, Orval Copeland; five siblings: Ricky Carter (Pam)
of Spring, Texas, Linda Carriel of Snellville, Georgia,
James Carter (Jean) of Houston, Texas, Joyce Hall (Darryl)
of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and Susan Carter of Geary,
Oklahoma; as well as many nieces and nephews.
