IN LOVING MEMORY
Sharon L Johnson
Once upon a time on April 12, 1952, a beautiful baby girl was born to Dorothy and Leonard Johnson Sr., and they named her Sharon Louise Johnson. She was the oldest of four siblings: Leonard Jr., Theron, and Averel Johnson.
Sharon attended Woodward Elementary, Dunbar Elementary, Dunjee Middle School, and graduated from Dunjee High School, where she proudly embraced being a Dunjee Tiger. She started her degree at OU, and finished her degree at Rose State College with her associates degree in Early Childhood and continued on to complete her bachelor's degree at UCO in Liberal Arts.
Sharon had a love for life. She enjoyed playing the flute, shopping, traveling, and always carried herself with elegance. She loved to sing, though she would often say, "I can't sing" She made memories wherever she went.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished her family deeply.
Sharon loved cooking, especially during Thanksgiving, and found joy in bringing her family together. She had a beautiful spirit, a great sense of humor, and never met a stranger. Even through life's challenges, including her years on dialysis, she remained strong and full of grace.
Sharon was previously married to Clarence Gage, and from that union welcomed her son, Laterrance Eugene "Terry" Gage. Later, she married Nick Owens, and they were blessed with a daughter, Shakalia Lyvette Owens.
Sharon had a deep love for God. She was a faithful member of Parker Heights Church of God in Christ under Pastor Shaw and later, City of Refuge Church of God in Christ under Pastor Joe Wesley Stripling, where she served as an announcer. Many will remember her voice declaring,
; "This is the day the Lord
has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it. You are now tuned in to the City Refuge Church of God in Christ." She was also involved in the choir, Faith Delegation, YPWW (chair lady), Sun Shine Band as one of the youth leader:
Later she joined Quayle United Methodist Church under Pastor Erica Thomas, where she served in Manna Ministry feeding the hungry, church choir; and also played a part of Unity Woman in Faith.
Sharon was a hardworking and dedicated woman who served her community with care and compassion. She was employed for many years at Kerr-McGee as an Order Analyst. Later on to Tel-Star Elementary as a pre-k teacher. Then on to Community Action Agency as a Head Start Teacher. She would end her career as a family Advocate.
Sharon was a foster parent to over 120 children. Which she enjoyed making a difference in their lives.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father Lenard Sr, mother Dorothy, brothers Lenard Jr., Averal, nephew Leanard III, great grand parents, grand parents, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Sharon leaves to cherish her memory her brother. TheRon Johnson, children, son Laterrance Eugene "Terry" Gage(Lynn), daughter Shakalia Lyvette Owens, and God daughter Lourie Scott; her grandchildren Keionis (Nariaya), Dayne, Keivonte' (deejay), Tysheia, Denoris (Mariah), Laterrance Jr, and Mac Yonna; great-grandchildren Kakoa, Ny'Ir, Ka'Den, Hasaawn, Amelia, Nylah, Armoni, and Nevach. Special grand children Cassandra, Denoria, Damontnayna, Damtree and Emani; Special great grandchildren Elajah, Kyair, Kevin Jr, Eenias, and leanna nice LaShonard lohnson; host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
