Nettie Christine Wilson-Fisher was born in Fay, Oklahoma to Leroy and BeEdna Carnes
on February 24, 1936. She was the third of five children in the family. Christine was a
member of the Watonga Church of Christ, and attended school in Watonga, graduating
from Dunbar. She married George Wilson, Jr. and they had six children together: Velita,
Doyle, Dwayne, Ricky, Drucilla, and Greg. Later in life, she married Raymond Fisher and
moved to Denver, Colorado. In the later 1970's she returned back to Watonga.
Christine worked at Sequoyah Spinning Mill (Hollytex) for 15 years and held numerous
other jobs to support her family. She fostered many children and adopted D'Angelo Wilson.
Christine was very active in her community, participating in various organizations, one of
which was The Watonga in Action. Thanks to her and others that helped in getting paved
roads on the east side of town.
When Christine wasn't busy, she loved going fishing and taking her grandkids along, teaching
them how to fish. If she was ready and you weren't ready to go you'd be left behind! Christine
loved all of her kids and grandkids and taught them many valuable life lessons. Her greatest joy
came from being a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
Nettie departed this life on March 6, 2024, and she will be fondly remembered by her surviving brother,
Louis Payne of Oklahoma City, OK; her six children: Doyle Wilson of Ponca City, OK, Dwayne Wilson
(Rita) of Watonga, OK Ricky Wilson (Leta) of Ponca City, OK, Drucilla Brown (James) of Tonkawa, OK,
Greg Wilson of Watonga, OK, D'Angelo Wilson of Ponca City, OK, as well as her thirty-two grandchildren,
thirty-four great-grandchildren, she also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
