Warren Lee (Bubby) Rice

Bubby (Pa) was born in Watonga, OK to Marvin Rice and Lillian Butler Fox on April 28, 1939, on the farm. Bubby grew up in the Watonga area his whole life, and he attended Watonga Public Schools, where he graduated in 1957. Bubby met Mable in high school, and they became high school sweethearts. Bubby and Mable married on September 18, 1960, in Watonga, OK. Bubby and Mable built their lives together in Watonga, where they raised their children Brenda and Brian. While the kids grew up, Bubby was a member of the Watonga Volunteer Fire Department and worked as a skilled carpenter for many years. Bubby took pride in his carpentry work. Then Bubby and Mable became Ma and Pa to Patrick, Kayla, Chad, Justin, Colton, Kyrie, Tinslee, Eli, Kaysen, and Mason. Bubby had a deep love for his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids where he enjoyed watching them grow. Bubby made sure his son and grandsons could read a tape measure as well as told them stories of the times he walked to school uphill both ways……… Bubby had a deep love for Mountain Dew, honey buns, MASH, ALL the sports, hunting, fishing, making custom knives and humming birds, and his long sleeved shirts and overalls. Bubby got to see the OKC Thunder win the NBA championship before he passed away in the hospital. Bubby will be truly missed by all his family and friends.

In addition to the family members listed above, Bubby is survived by his sister, Marlene Koehl, of Crescent, several nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends.

Bubby was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Stanton, and two nephews. 

The family extends special thanks to Mercy Hospital in OKC where they offered phenomenal care to Bubby and Mable while he was in the hospital as well as Gary and Carla Flynn for all the help. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Watonga Volunteer Firefighter's Association in memory of Warren (Bubby) Rice.
